Summary

The post holder also will provide clinical service and leadership to the automated haematology laboratory. As such the post holder is responsible for supporting the Blood Sciences Laboratory Director in providing laboratory services for the Haematology Automated Laboratory as defined by ISO 15189:2012 as Clinical Lead for this service. The post holder will provide clinical service, support/initiation of clinical research/trials, supervision of Trainees, introduction of new technologies/services in line with Pathology overall strategy as well as lead on regulatory accreditation issues. It is expected that there will be teaching within the role to support the training of Specialty Registrars (ST3+) to gain competency in laboratory Haematology and General Haematology. The successful applicant will look after patients with non-malignant haematological disorders in the general haematology clinic including anaemia and immunohaematological conditions such as immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). CUH is recognised as an ITP clinical centre. This is an exciting time within Medical Haematology with a portfolio of trials and clinical research. The post will include participation in inpatient ward rounds & consults for patients with non-malignant haematological disorders and participation in the non-malignant on-call rota (1:5 currently) which covers CUH and Royal Papworth Hospital. There is no requirement to work in Haemato-Oncology diagnostics in this post.
