Summary

The post holder also will provide clinical service and leadership to the recently established regional Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia Service. As such the post holder is responsible for overseeing the Emergency Plasmapheresis Service for newly diagnosed patients with Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia in East Anglia. The post holder is also expected to liaise with the national team and NHS England as well as the district general hospitals referring patients to improved and refine pathways and to improve performance over time through education and improved pathways. In addition the post holder will have regular clinics for Medical Haematology, Thrombophilia and Haemophilia as well as for TTP. The post holder will provide clinical service for General Haematology inpatients on a rotational basis, GP advice and liaison service and cover for laboratory queries in General Haematology and Transfusion both for CUH and Royal Papworth as part of the on-call, support/initiation of clinical research/trials, supervision of Trainees, introduction of new technologies/services in line with Pathology overall strategy as well as lead on regulatory accreditation issues. This is an exciting time within Medical Haematology with a portfolio of trials and clinical research. The post will include participation in inpatient ward rounds & consults for patients with non-malignant haematological disorders and participation in the non-malignant on-call rota (1:5 currently) which covers CUH and Royal Papworth Hospital.
