About the Job
Looking around your area have you ever wondered how the bin lorry just turns up each week and where does it go? Maybe you have an elderly relative who needs support and wondered how the care is selected?

Procurement is the process by which all these, and much more are resourced. It’s an incredibly varied working day at Welland as we cover these kinds of needs for multiple councils across 5 counties in the East Midlands.

As one of the team you will be assisting people from our member councils in keeping the process legal, engaging suppliers, and ultimately providing best value. This is a career graded role which means we are happy to train and develop you so no previous experience is essential, but if you consider yourself as savvy shopper you are already on your way!

The role is based in Melton Mowbray however you will not be required in the office more than 12 days a year so remote working is a real possibility. We commit to advancing and promoting staff internally so there is a real career development opportunity here including professional as well as other qualifications to enable this.

About you

Do you want to be part of a team where your managers actively seek to progress your career with professional development and successor planning, a role where you can feel truly valued?

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Procurement, you will have a varied workload with shifting priorities for which you will need to be able to assess the logical order and communicate this confidently.

You will be well supported by the team however you could be mainly working from home which means you need to have good time management and self-discipline.

You will need a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly word, excel, teams and outlook – these are our main tools for communications, documentation, and reports. We also have some web-based software to manage processes.

This opportunity would be ideal for individuals who can really engage with people, some one able to influence others’ opinions, or assertively stand their ground when required.
