As a Learning Support Assistant at Birchwood School, you will play a crucial role in the lives of our young people, supporting our pupil’s educational and personal development. Working closely with our teaching team, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impression and impact on the lives of our pupils, supporting them as they overcome challenges and reach their goals. For this role we require a minimum of 12 months experience in the same or similar industry.
Orbis Education & Care provides specialist care and education services for children and adults with complex needs that are associated with Autism and SEMH. A typical day will include:

- Provide dedicated support to pupils within the classroom, assisting with their educational activities and individual learning plans.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, ensuring the emotional well-being of each pupil.
- Assist with behaviour management strategies, promoting positive interactions and social skills development.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to differentiate instruction and tailor support to meet the individual pupil needs.
- Work closely with therapists and healthcare professionals to implement therapy plans and monitor progress.
- Contribute to maintaining accurate records and documentation.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.
- A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
- GCSE qualification in English & Maths.
- Formal qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning or equivalent
- 12 months minimum experience in similar roles is required

Please note: This job role involves regulated activity with children and requires an enhanced DBS with barred list check.
