The Academy is seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer who will be the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to work as part of the Safeguarding Team working alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead, with a case load of students to provide with appropriate support. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of working within the safeguarding field and be used to handling large amounts of sensitive and confidential data. The successful candidate will have excellent record-keeping skills with an eye for detail in order to be able to produce reports, minute meetings and document safeguarding concerns. You should have an understanding and empathetic nature to be able to make a positive contribution to students in difficult, delicate and sensitive situations. The confidence and ability to communicate to students within the 11-16 range is essential as well as an awareness of local and national agencies that provide support for young people and their families.

We would also be happy to consider offering this post to an initially less experienced candidate with an interest in working in a safeguarding role as a development opportunity. In this instance we may offer the role on a Band F (£26,421 - £28,770 FTE) with a temporarily reduced job description while the successful candidate gained the necessary training and experience.
