This is an exciting time for you to join Chesterfield Borough Council as we look to recruit to our Environmental Services team for Environmental Services Assistants.

Your duties will include the maintenance and cleaning of parks, playing fields, landscaped areas, open spaces, verges, footpaths and the public highway. The successful candidate will make a proactive and positive contribution to the overall development, commercialisation and reputation of the service.

You will be required to work some weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis, so it is essential that successful candidates are able to work flexibly within the needs of the service. We also operate a seasonal working system which involves working longer hours in the summer and shorter hours in the winter.

Working in local government is a highly satisfying and rewarding experience in so many ways. In return for the contribution you’ll make to our local community, you’ll enjoy an excellent range of benefits and the possibility of flexible working options, plus learning and development opportunities which will offer the chance to progress your career further. Internal applicants can apply for this opportunity as a secondment, subject to management approval.

This role will involve driving council vehicles so a full driving licence is essential.
