Summary

Job Title: Social Support & Care Assistant
Location: Thakeham nr Storrington
Hourly rate: £14.00
Reference: MP7855
Hours/shifts: Term Time – 39 weeks per year - Monday to Friday 3 hours per week.
7 hours every other weekend – 26 weekends per year.
7 hours per week during school holidays – 13 weeks per year.
Exact days and times to be agreed with applicant.

Summary
I am looking to employ a PA to assist my easy-going 5-year-old son.
He is non-verbal and requires 1:1 support to promote his independence skills.
He requires support to enjoy activities that help him feel included in his family life.
The PA will support him with play, community outings and in home routines in ways that will promote his independence.
You will support him with dressing and toileting when required.
You will be required to drive him in your own vehicle in return for mileage at 35p per mile.

Personal Care
To support with dressing and toileting when required.

Social:
My son enjoys (just some examples) – walks, being outdoors, sensory rooms, books, messy play, playfighting with his brother, collecting things (such as books, toy characters, coloured bricks etc), multi-coloured toys, recorded bird sounds, his cuddle toy, sensory lighting, watching his brother play football.

You will help to identify trigger points that may upset him.
To teach self-care skills and routines.
Support with alternative methods of communication to make his needs, wishes and feelings known to those around him.
To assist him to become more aware of dangers.
To provide him with opportunities and support to safely try out new experiences.
All in all, he is a very happy little boy.

The successful applicant will be:

Previous experience preferred, but this is not as essential as a friendly and enabling approach to the role.
