Summary


Applications are invited for the post of General Surgery SHO based at Newham University Hospital.

The post holder will have a 12 month post (extendable) in the General Surgery department which will include supporting the Foundation School trainees and the opportunity to train in General Surgery. In addition she/he will be involved in Out Patient Clinics and in-patient operating lists. The post includes a 1:8 on-call commitment. He/she will be expected to be involved in several research projects

Post-holders will be working as a Trust Grade SHO and be part of a team of 8 at the middle grade level within the General Surgery department. You will be rotating and working within the department in Breast/Endocrine surgery, Gastro-intestinal/minimally invasive surgery and Colorectal surgery. Although this post is not a recognized training post, you will have a wide opportunity to develop your surgical skills and you will be expected to have a strong academic commitment and to be part of the ongoing academic and audit activities of the department.

You will be part of a 1 in 8 on call rota and you will have to work within the EWTD frame.

You will be 1:8 day on calls & 1:16 night on calls with orthopaedics SHO ( generic rota with H@N concept ). Rota full shift repeat every 8 weeks .
