Summary

I am a middle aged non-binary person living in a lively household with my wife and teenage daughter.

I am medically complex and neurodivergent with limited mobility and need substantial help with physical care and getting about. I use a wheelchair out of the house and cannot self-propel.

I am currently unable to work, but I enjoy painting, gardening, literature, writing and time in nature and going to the beach.

Hours of work

Variable hours, 15.5 hours total.

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 2-4 hours between 11 am and 6 pm

Wednesday: 2-4 hours between 5 pm and 8 pm

Friday: 2-4 hours between 11am and 11pm

Rate of pay: £12.75

Tasks involved:

• Help with all personal care including; washing, brushing teeth, shaving, showering and dressing
• Assisting with moving around the house including getting down stairs and getting to the toilet.
• Making drinks and snacks
• Food shopping, Meal preparation and correct storage of foods due to specialised dietary needs
• Getting out of the house to visit beaches and parks, and for shopping trips, appointments and errands.
• Trips to Art galleries and pretty places
• Help to engage in hobbies including gardening, arts and crafts and painting.

Type of person required:

• Competent driver with own vehicle essential.
• Willingness to engage with training to accommodate specific and complex dietary needs essential.
• A person who is compassionate and discreet with good communication skills.
• Someone who is broad minded and secure in their own identity.
• A person who is dependable and can be flexible and adaptable to varying/ changing needs.
• A curious, lively person with a good sense of humour and bright, fun-loving personality would be preferable.
• Someone who can cope with an occasionally loud and chaotic environment.
• Someone who could provide extra hours on occasions.
• Someone who can work collaboratively with me to meet my needs, following instruction when needed, but also offer helpful challenges gently, and engage with creative problem solving.
• Someone trustworthy and reliable.
• Be willing to undertake any training identified as relating to the post e.g. Manual Handling Course, Basic First Aid

Concerning the position

You will be formally employed by the Direct Payment Client which requires a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis) . A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
