Summary

Job Description

This is a fixed term post until 31/03/2027.

This is a part time post and the salary will be pro-rata to the number of hours worked.

West Dunbartonshire Justice Services are looking for self-motivated and well organised individuals to contribute to the implementation and development of the Community Payback Unpaid Work Team.

Applicants will have an interest in working with people who have been involved in offending, promoting their rehabilitation and model pro-social values and behaviours. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential as is the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Previous supervisor experience is essential. You will also be required to assist service users to develop or acquire new skills to support advancement into employment and training.

You should have good basic joinery, decorating, gardening and DIY skills and the ability to pass these skills to others. Time served tradespersons are desirable.

Knowledge of and a commitment to working within Health and Safety legislation including site risk assessment is essential and a recognised qualification would be an advantage. Induction training will be given.

You must have a full driving licence and be competent in the use of digital mobile applications.

Work patterns will vary and will include days, evenings and weekends.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.

Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
