Subject to satisfactory performance and with appropriate supervision, opportunity will be given to take on a more senior role within the unit. On-call Commitments: The rota is worked as a 48 hour week full shift system. It is a hybrid 9 person rota incorporating trainees from paediatric cardiac anaesthesia, paediatric intensive care and 2 advanced critical care practitioners. The paediatric cardiology ward is covered by resident SHO with a paediatric cardiology registrar. With regard to paediatric cardiology, the role of the PICU trainee is for emergency patient review/HDU support. To meet those needs some staff groups will be increasingly asked to work a more flexible work pattern so that they can offer services in the evening or weekend. As a result any offer of employment will be subject to you agreeing to work a new more flexible pattern or working in the future if required, including evening and weekend work.
