Summary
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Our client, a world leader in aerospace manufacturing, is seeking an experienced Stores Forklift Operative for a contract position in their Stores division of their Isle of Wight facility
The business are looking for a motivated team player who will bring some fresh blood and enthusiasm into the facility
**PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: suitable candidates MUST have both valid driving license and forklift licence (and be able to supply proof at application stage)**
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Follow standard work for material handling e.g. receiving, shipping, and warehousing
• Use adequate equipment (forklift, tow train etc.) to move materials
• Driving materials/stock around site
• Record movements of materials in the transactional records system (e.g. receipt, bookings)
• Make proposals to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
• Managing of inbound material flow
• Monitoring inbound delivery performance
• Receiving, inspection, and storing of inbound deliveries
• Track product availability
• Pick, pack, and ship product for delivery
• Prepare package and shipment
• Managing of shipping, carriers and fleets
• Authorisation and the processing of returns
• Perform reverse logistics and salvage activities
• Manage and process warranty claims
• Locate and prepare stock for movement
• Physically move stock
• Perform all activities in accordance with safety and quality rules
• Maintain inventory status
• Perform physical inventory procedures
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• valid driving license and forklift licence ESSENTIAL
• prior stores experience, ideally within an engineering/manufacturing environment
• suitable candidate must be a team player and is able to fit into a team environment
• Interested in progressing/ learning new things
• computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel etc)
• Use of material handling equipment
• Any prior experience with Inventory management and Transport management
FURTHER DETAILS:
The position is initially for 6 months (with strong extension prospects) working both standard days (Monday - Thursday 8am - 4.30pm & Friday's 8am - 1pm) and Double Days when required (Week 1 Earlies: Monday to Friday 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. Week 2 Lates: Monday – Friday 2 p.m. – 10 p.m then loops back and repeats)
