Summary
RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver high quality, advanced emergency nursing care Assessment of adults and children who may present with complex/chronic illnesses and/or injury Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly To ensure that patients are fully involved in their care and treatment Provide health education and promote healthy lifestyle for patients and carers Safeguard vulnerable children and adults. To undertake triage/screening as required Meet the needs of patients presenting for opportunistic wound care Undertake minor surgery as appropriate to competence Dispense medication under patient group directions If you are a qualified Independent Non-Medical Prescriber, prescribe appropriate medication within the PCT formulary and own professional boundaries Request and interpret x rays of extremities if appropriate, following local policies and protocols Keep accurate and immediate records of every consultation including assessment and advice regarding patient care using the UCC computer system. To work as an independent practitioner accountable for assessing, diagnosing, advising, treating and safe discharging of patients in the UCC Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct. Priorities, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality Assess effectiveness of care delivery through self and peer review, benchmarking and formal evaluation, e.g. audits and implement improvements where required Support and participate in shared learning across the unit and wider organisation Contribute to maintenance of regulating standards for CQC Contribute to meeting the key performance indicators within the time frames identified Ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively and all equipment used in the care of patients is appropriately maintained and used only by those individuals with the appropriate training
