Summary


We are looking for two motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapists to join the Barnet Adult Community Team. This exciting opportunity will involve working in the Planned Care Team as well as one of the following services: Inpatient rehabilitation, Voice, Early Supported Discharge, or the Parkinson’s Unit.

This post offers variety and opportunity to increase clinical knowledge, skills and experience in both dysphagia and communication disorders as well as working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework, contributing to training initiatives, developing supervisory skills, and service development.

We provide SLT to adults
• in patients’ homes, care homes, in clinics, virtually and in some inpatient rehab settings.
• The service encourages staff to make appropriate use of mobile working to aid service delivery and facilitate smarter working.

Your role would include:
• Delivering assessment and management of patients with a range of swallowing and/or communication disorders
• Supporting self and service development through active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and by participating in any audit or research being undertaken by the service.
• Providing specialist clinical expertise and support of junior staff, assistants, and students.
• Working closely with other members of the multi-professional team and maintaining key relationships with stakeholders.

• To communicate relevant medical information, assessment details, advice and recommendations across agencies and with patients in compliance with Trust Guidelines for sharing of information and informed consent. These agencies include GP’s, Social Services, Healthcare professionals, voluntary agencies, and residential/nursing homes.
• Be responsible for gaining valid, informed consent for assessment, treatment interventions and sharing of information in compliance with legal and professional guidelines. To be able to interpret and follow these guidelines in circumstances where patients do not have capacity to provide informed consent.
• Have specialist working knowledge of clinical guidelines, specific to the area you are working in and, with the guidance of your supervisor, to translate these guidelines into clinical practice.
• To assess the need for, develop and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment to adults referred to the service with a wide range of speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties
