This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at The Royal Wolverhampton Trust.

We are looking for a System Test Analyst to join the Project Delivery Team.

The successful candidate will be motivated individual who will contribute towards the delivery of a large-scale software implementation and clinical transformation Project.

Having an excellent knowledge of testing, the role will work alongside clinicians, software developers and suppliers to ensure the solution is tested and implemented to the expected standard.

Please note that a regular onsite presence and travel to other Trust sites is required as part of our hybrid working arrangements. Interviews will be held face to face at the Hospital Site.

a) The purpose of this role is to work in collaboration with Project Delivery on initiatives to ensure successful implementation of any new and emerging software applications in line with the requirements of all users and the business needs of the service.

b) To provide a service which ensures software solutions which are fit for purpose at the point of delivery. The post holder will liaise with the Test Manager within the Project Delivery team, including documentation and escalation of test results, incidents and issues which arise during pre-implementation and ‘go-live’ periods.

c) The post holder will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of IT systems; this will include software deployments, upgrades, and implementations. Working to agreed processes and protocols you will manage the implementation of the test strategy to deliver a professional and timely service.

Have direct responsibility for delivering testing as per agreed strategy to meet the testing demands of the project.


Responsible for testing activities within their allocated projects working alongside the Test Manager; sharing knowledge and maintaining engagement with colleagues towards achievement within the key results areas.



Will define a detailed test plan for the project which will encapsulate all elements of testing including user acceptance.



Build knowledge and testing skills within the wider IT Project to ensure there is adequate knowledge of the testing function.



Carry out detailed testing and formally document test results and support others to do the same.



Help Test Manager to develop testing documentation templates, processes and procedures for the test users to follow.



Document and track incidents, escalate in accordance with conventions to application and service providers as appropriate, managing responses towards resolution including the definition of any work-arounds.



Monitor issue allocation to future builds; producing reports and escalating where appropriate.



To sponsor local requests for changes to the system by raising this with the test manager for escalation.



Work in partnership with the Test Manager to devise a testing strategy for data migration to ensure data completeness at go-live.



Manage the relationship with the end-users to ensure active engagement which will deliver documented test results and final sign-off.



Represent the Trust where appropriate, attending scheduled and ad hoc meetings with users, super-users, colleagues, project managers and contractors, software providers.



The delivery of testing of all new IT deployments and upgrades including the setup of schedules, scripts and output.



Manage the testing effort, including the production and execution of tests plans, resource management for any testing team, management and prioritisation of incidents identified during testing, and reporting progress to the Test Manager.



Provide a testing service for both functional and non-functional requirements.



To coordinate internal development project and externally supplies QA activities and define Quality Assurance acceptance criteria with work stream leads .



Be responsible for the definition of objectives of all test stages and the techniques that apply.



To drive and assist with the creation of test plans, schedules, and documentation which record how the tests are to be executed.



To assist in planning of resources for test activity.



To monitor the test environment – ensure change management controls are in place for the duration of the testing.



Ensure that test materials meet the requirement, and adhere to the directorate standards.



Contribute to policy and strategy definition.



Provide estimates to Test Manager for test activity and contribute to project quality plans.



Communicate major functional changes to the Test Manager/Project Manager and relevant senior managers so that they can assess the impact of the change on their business functions.



Manage the defect tracking process and ensure that it is effective for the project.



Build subject matter expertise within test resources to aid test activity.



Work closely with the development team and application support team to break down barriers to project success.



Adhere to national policies for the project area and ensuring that test data is handled in accordance with relevant legalisation, policy, and guidelines.


Monitor and sign off against the quality assurance criteria defined.
