This is a fantastic opportunity – spanning from design through to full operation, and you’ll be involved in all of it! As the Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer, you’ll be responsible for leading of the upgrades of Cruachan Power Station on units 3&4.

This is a permanent role, based at our Cruachan Power Station. You’ll be reporting into the Engineering Director and leading a team to deliver critical engineering upgrades. You will be building on the shoulders of giants who constructed the original site back in the 1960’s!

About the role

This is a significant investment project that will include the design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of the new units.

The upgrading will include the replacement of the turbines, generators, and Main Inlet Valves during planned outages.

You’ll play a key role in delivering the scope of works including managing the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of large electrical rotating plant. You’ll also ensure that all design documentation is correctly recorded.

With your experience, you’ll be the technical authority for EC&I engineering on the U3&4 project, while understanding the wider technical requirements within Drax and provide professional support and guidance to other members of the Engineering Team.

This could include Electricity at Work, ESQCR and other legislative and Business requirements with regards to Electrical Plant, Control Systems and Instrumentation & Working Equipment.

About you

Essentially, you’ll be Qualified (Honours Degree) in a relevant engineering discipline (EC&I) and you’ll Ideally be a Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) of a relevant institute i.e. IET.

You’ll demonstrate your working knowledge and understanding of EC&I engineering industry standards and legislation.

Health and Safety is critical to our operations; therefore, you will hold NEBOSH or IOSH certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent.

This is a permanent role, based in Cruachan. We understand that even though this role may not be in your current location, here at Drax we may be to support with relocation .
