Summary

Communications and Engagement Manager
Starting salary up to £59,000 per annum

Based at King’s Court Council Offices, King’s Lynn

We are an ambitious council with a new corporate strategy which sets out our vision to be a welcoming rural district with vibrant communities and successful, growing businesses. Your role will be to ensure that the Communications team supports the delivery of our corporate priorities and our statutory duties and responsibilities, working with colleagues from across all areas of the council to engage effectively with our local residents, partners, businesses and communities.

Your professional knowledge and experience will equip you to provide guidance and support to a team which delivers a press service, our social media presence, a graphics function and a print room. To do this effectively you will need previous experience of leading and managing a team to achieve agreed priorities. A good working knowledge of delivering an effective press service, which proactively promotes council activities and responds to media enquiries and of how to use social media and other communication channels to effectively promote services, functions and projects are critical to this role.

In addition to managing the team you will personally provide specialist advice and guidance on campaigns and community engagement activities, developing strategies, plans and activities which support the council’s commitment to delivering services and projects to benefit our local communities. This will require you to advise Senior Management and Elected Members on communication and engagement related issues.

You will be educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification and at least three years’ related work experience, ideally in the public sector or an organisation delivering a diverse range of services. You will also have experience of leading and managing a team which deliver a range of related services/functions. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of researching and writing a wide range of communication materials and have experience of developing and leading community engagement activities.

If you share our vision for the Borough’s future, we would like to hear from you. In return we can offer you a competitive salary, performance related pay, a generous annual leave entitlement which includes an office closure between Christmas and New Year and membership of the local government pension scheme. For those wishing to relocate to our beautiful borough we also offer a relocation package of up to £8k.
