Summary

Position: Prevention Officer (YJS)
Location: London Borough of Lambeth

Service Care Solutions, in partnership with the London Borough of Lambeth, is seeking a dedicated Prevention Officer to join the Youth Justice Service (YJS) team. As a Prevention Officer, you will work collaboratively with families using a whole-family approach to prevent offending and support positive outcomes for young people.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of young people subject to Out Of Court Disposals and deliver targeted interventions.
  • Conduct holistic assessments using the YJB AssetPlus assessment tool and develop action plans to address needs and risks.
  • Work directly with children and young people to ensure their voices are heard in the planning process.
  • Provide structured support and interventions to families to facilitate behaviour change.
  • Track progress, maintain accurate records, and provide feedback to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to support complex casework and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements:

  • Educated to A level with significant experience working in a youth justice setting.
  • Knowledge of successful engagement strategies for clients with low motivation and disaffection.
  • Familiarity with relevant Youth Justice legal frameworks, child protection, safeguarding, and data protection.
  • Extensive experience in direct work with families, children, or adults with additional needs.
  • Ability to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
