Position: Prevention Officer (YJS)
Location: London Borough of Lambeth
Service Care Solutions, in partnership with the London Borough of Lambeth, is seeking a dedicated Prevention Officer to join the Youth Justice Service (YJS) team. As a Prevention Officer, you will work collaboratively with families using a whole-family approach to prevent offending and support positive outcomes for young people.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of young people subject to Out Of Court Disposals and deliver targeted interventions.
- Conduct holistic assessments using the YJB AssetPlus assessment tool and develop action plans to address needs and risks.
- Work directly with children and young people to ensure their voices are heard in the planning process.
- Provide structured support and interventions to families to facilitate behaviour change.
- Track progress, maintain accurate records, and provide feedback to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to support complex casework and promote the welfare of children and young people.
Requirements:
- Educated to A level with significant experience working in a youth justice setting.
- Knowledge of successful engagement strategies for clients with low motivation and disaffection.
- Familiarity with relevant Youth Justice legal frameworks, child protection, safeguarding, and data protection.
- Extensive experience in direct work with families, children, or adults with additional needs.
- Ability to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
