Summary

Lakeside is the University of Nottingham's public arts provision with a year-round programme of exhibitions, live performances, festivals, workshops, talks and lectures open to everyone, including University staff, students and members of the public.

Based in the beautiful surroundings of Highfields and University Park, Lakeside has two popular cafés and a shop including crafts by local and national makers. The programme attracts around 185,000 visitors annually not including café visitors www.lakesidearts.org.uk

Whilst Lakeside has an increasingly diverse programme, we want to ensure that our audiences and our team are more reflective of the artists we engage and the community we want to serve. We welcome people from different cultures, ethnicities and whose beliefs are fundamental to our values of inclusivity, ambition, openness, fairness and respect. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are currently under-represented in the creative sectors, especially global ethnic majority applicants.

You will support the CEO, Deputy Director, Head of Music, Creative Programmer, and Learning Manager, providing effective administrative and related project support/co-ordination across the team. You will enjoy multi-tasking, have strong organisation and planning skills and will be articulate, with excellent written and numeracy skills. Few days will be alike; you will enjoy variety and be able to use your initiative to solve problems. You will be a team player, able to demonstrate agility, and have the ability to switch between tasks to assist senior staff. You will have excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with all team members, visiting creatives, University staff, students and the public. We seek someone who is passionate about the arts/creative industries’ sector to join our friendly team.

The role is offered on a two-year fixed-term contract. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week). You will be required to work flexibly, including evenings/weekends, to support events/programme delivery, averaging 1 day weekly confirmed one month in advance. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Catherine Hocking, Tel: 0115 951 3959 or email catherine.hocking@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
