Summary

The Vineyard Group encompasses The Vineyard, Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa, The Post and The Barns Hotel, Bedford. Each property is focused on providing the highest quality of service, food and beverage.

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Operations Manager for The Post to work on a full-time basis. The Post is the latest addition to the Vineyard Group’s portfolio and is a newly built special events venue, opened in Summer 2021 focused on delivering 5-star service within the events business on any occasion.

Summary of the Job Role & Purpose:
As the Assistant Operations Manager, the exemplary candidate will be required to run an event as well as the bar on event days to the highest standards expected and continually strive to improve guest and staff satisfaction. You will help directing staff through event days and interact with guests to ensure they have a best possible events experience. One of the main focuses also is to be responsible to ensure all security measurements are followed and licensing standards set by law are met as well as being able to be the manager on duty for guest enquiries on the day.

Main Responsibilities:
- To oversee bar and event staff performance to ensure activities on event days run smoothly and help deliver a positive events experience for our guests’ hand in hand with the Operations Manager and the Sales Team.
- To maintain an ordered and efficient work environment
- Training Food & Beverage team to the standards required.
- Developing product line – Focus on sustainability, profitability and local products
- To be fully aware and comply with all fire, health and safety and hygiene regulations as well as licensing regulations
- To abide by Health and Safety Regulations as required by Law
- Cash handling and cashing up tills
- Cellar management, Stock management and ordering stock
- Following stock take and delivery procedures as well as improving existing procedures
- Fulfill the role of Duty Manager on the day and to be able to handle guest queries in a swift and satisfactory manner
- Any other reasonable tasks as requested

Personal Specification
The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic, must do attitude, excellent communication skills with a good command of the English language. You must be organised, articulate, have exceptional attention to detail and have the desire to go the extra mile for our guests as well as having great bar product knowledge to enhance our guest journey. Previous experience of a minimum of 2 years working in a management role within either a 5-star hotel bar or events bar with equal standards essential. Personal license would be preferable.
