Paint Sprayer (Surface Finish Technician 2)
RAF Benson
Full Time, Permanent (39 hours per week)
Salary £31,500 + 9% shift allowance

Here at Serco, we are currently recruiting a Paint Sprayer to join our team at RAF Benson. This role is responsible for undertaking painting and finishing tasks for the MoD and the delivery of Surface Finish in a wide range of tasks including surface preparation (abrading, paint stripping, Dry Media Stripping abrasive blasting, masking, cleaning, and pre-treatment), and the application of associated finishes on all MoD assets.

The Paint Sprayer must comply with all Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Aviation Safety requirements. They will be responsible for notifying Management of any anomalies, failures, defects, and corrosion, which may give rise to a poor-quality product and/or endanger Aviation Safety.

Main responsibilities of the role include:


- Performing surface finish tasks in accordance with the quality policy procedures and standards required.
- Manual (Abrading), Chemical and Media paint removal methods on Aircraft, Aircraft components and numerous MoD ground assets prior to repainting.
- Applying a high standard of paint finish to Aircraft, Aircraft components and numerous MoD assets using various paint schemes utilising modern paint application equipment.
- Ensuring that appropriate health and safety aspects including COSHH, and Risk Assessments are strictly complied with, including control of entry by unauthorised personnel into work areas.
- Ensure that all paints and associated materials are correctly stored in accordance with instructions.
- Be prepared to challenge/report others who display unsafe/unapproved behaviours and practices, including stopping tasks where an unsafe practice or variance from approved process is observed.





What you’ll need to do the role


- Appropriate experience as a RAF Painter & Finisher tradesperson or time served civilian equivalent in the trade of Aircraft/Automotive Body Shop painter.
- NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Surface Finish pathway) or equivalent qualification.
- A Full UK Driving Licence is desirable.
- Ability to follow defined procedures and work instructions.
