Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal, and event.

The Royal Opera House Flys Team expertly support across both Opera and Ballet to ensure the operational and production requirements of rehearsals and performances are carried out to the highest possible standard of safety, efficiency, and quality. Working with Tait to develop and launch the EpiQ Automation Control system, the ROH is an industry leader in automated flying and continues to build on this reputation and technological advances - alongside the traditional principals of manual flying.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate operator and leader to work alongside the Senior Flys Manager to develop and drive forward a small, highly skilled team in a dynamic environment. This is a hands-on role, and the Deputy Manager will be required to run the rail during changeovers as well as rehearsals and performances.

This role will suit a candidate who is passionate about delivering world class performances, understands the future and growth in Flys/Automation and can evidence working at the top of their field. You will also be able to demonstrate:

An excellent track record in technical theatre with major establishments. Current experience is essential, team leadership an advantage.Excellent record as a trained and safe operator of an automated flying system (ROH or equivalent).An appreciation of both technical and aesthetic aspects of performance, demonstrating a broad range of technical skills and understanding.Ability to assess production needs for Flys operations in a repertory house.Experience in basic front-line maintenance and awareness of developments in automated flying systems and stage engineering.
Please note, although previous experience with Opera/Ballet will be highly regarded, it is not essential. We welcome applications from qualified candidates with a broader theatre background and would like to hear what you can bring to our organisation.
