Summary
The Hull University Teaching Hospitals (HUTH) NHS Trust has a vacancy for a Band 5 Apprenticeship & Support Staff Engagement Advisor within the Widening Participation Team, which is part of the wider Learning and Development Team.
This post is full time (37.5 hours per week), Monday-Friday each week.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and versatile
individual to advise and grow our current apprenticeship and support staff engagement activities, widening our presence and impact in the local community, promoting Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as an employer of choice, and growing our apprenticeship offers.
The post holder will be central in delivering the day to day operational activities around apprenticeships both for existing colleagues and those new to HUTH. Flexibility from the post holder is essential, as our offering continues to be shaped by the evolving needs of the organisation, wider healthcare community, and national guidance.
The post holder will work flexibly across our exceptional facilities at both Castle Hill and Hull Royal. There is also the opportunity for some home working as appropriate to the service needs.
Our commitment is to develop our people and whilst ideally the successful candidate will possess the Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Advice and Guidance (RQF), we would be willing to support the successful candidate through this qualification if required. Experience of working with apprenticeships is essential.
The HUTH Widening Participation team is a small, dedicated team who are passionate about working collaboratively and collectively to support access to education, employment and development opportunities. Our aim is to help people, particular those that are under-represented, to realise their potential through a variety of innovative and engaging networking activities including;
• school and college career events
• local community groups and employment agency engagements
• work experience for students in Years 10-13
• expanding NHS career knowledge through information and advice, and
• working with colleagues to offer apprenticeship and functional skills opportunities
The post holder will be joining a fast paced, forward thinking department working as part of a team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work creatively and innovatively, adding their own personal touch to the programmes they deliver. Core duties will include supporting the recruitment, induction, monitoring and achievement of apprentices and support staff learners across the Trust. As a teaching hospital we have access to first class technologies including simulation (scenario based role play), virtual reality, 360 filming and much more, complete with technical support to enhance teaching materials and learning experiences.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills and a proven track record as an educator and managing learners.

They will be responsible for the day to day arrangements for apprenticeships and wider support staff learning activities. Working alongside the Career Engagement Advisor, they will also be facilitating the promotion of work-based apprenticeships and literacy and numeracy (functional skills) in both schools, colleges, and to colleagues within the Trust.
