Summary


This 12 month full time post is to support the Trust in its delivery and development of high quality undergraduate teaching to the University of
Manchester medical students. There will also be opportunities to be involved in postgraduate teaching programmes. The working week will be
agreed by the post holder, the Director of Medical Education, Undergraduate Lead and Clinical Skills Tutor and will consist of 50% education and 50% clinical in emergency medicine.

The Education Fellow post is designed for a trainee who has completed FY2 and will provide the fellow with an opportunity to gain experience in
and develop a sub specialty interest in medical education.

The Fellow will have varying responsibilities for the organisation, delivery and supervision of Undergraduate teaching in conjunction with the
Undergraduate Lead and the Director of Medical Education. Promoting and developing simulation together with the Trust Simulation Lead.



The main duties of the role are to support the Trust in its delivery of undergraduate education to year 3, 4 and 5 medical students in clinical
placements.

Postgraduate activity will include delivery of simulation training, mentoring trainees and supporting the local ARCP process and pre employment
assessments for the foundation programme.

For the clinical aspect of the role responsibilities will be equivalent to those of a trainee at the same stage of training, based on evidenced
competencies and will be the responsibility of the clinical lead in Emergency Medicine.

Research and audit activities will include participating in regular academic meetings, audit of educational aspects of clinical practice and audit of mapping of educational delivery.

Please note that Clinical Fellows are paid on a local pay scale that mirrors Doctors in Training pay scales. Basic salary offered for this role is fixed at £43,923 and will not be uplifted beyond that salary point. Where the role requires out of hours working, evening, weekend and on call enhancements will be added according to a work schedule. It is Trust practice that we offer a set salary for this role and variations will not be considered.

Undergraduate Teaching - including simulation training, delivery of a structured formal clinical skills programme for 5th year medical students,
supervise clinical skills drop in sessions and organise and examine in mock OSCEs.

Postgraduate Teaching - delivery of clinical skills and simulation based teaching for foundation trainees, mentoring trainees requiring extra
support, delivery of seminars for IMT and ACCS teaching, sit on the foundation programme ARCP panel and assist with the foundation year 1 pre employment assessments.

Research and Audit - participate in regular academic meetings, undertake audit of educational aspects of clinical practice as required and undertake audit of mapping of educational delivery of learning outcomes in line with curriculum mapping as required.

Clinical - The clinical aspect (50%) of this role will be in the emergency medicine department
