Summary

Property and Procurement Solicitor

Job Purpose:

1. To undertake legal work within the relevant functional area, or such other areas within Legal Services as may be required from time to time, to advise on legal matters; to act on the Council's instructions and where necessary and appropriate to represent the Council in Court and at tribunals, hearings, mediations and inquiries.

2. The relevant functional area is Property Procurement and Contract Law. The legal work comprises a demanding and varied non-contentious workload. The work will include advising on Property, Contractual and Procurement law matters (including complex and high value procurements) with particular focus on commercial conveyancing and development projects, construction contracts, as well as other non-contentious Local Government law matters; drafting procurement documentation, contracts, statutory orders and other documentation; and carrying out any other legal work necessary for the performance of the legal Services functions.

Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Property and Procurement Solicitor to join our legal team. As a Property and Procurement Solicitor, you will be responsible for providing legal advice, support, and representation to the organization in matters related to property transactions and procurement processes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external clients, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise in property law and procurement to handle a diverse range of legal matters. This includes negotiating and drafting contracts, conducting due diligence, advising on property acquisitions and disposals, and providing legal support on procurement processes. The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and guidance on property transactions, including leases, acquisitions, and disposals.
Conduct due diligence on potential property transactions and identify any legal risks or issues.
Negotiate and draft contracts and agreements related to property transactions and procurement processes.
Advise internal stakeholders on legal matters related to property law and procurement.
Conduct legal research and stay up-to-date with changes in property and procurement laws and regulations.
Represent the organization in property-related disputes and litigation, if necessary.
Collaborate with internal teams, external clients, and legal counsel to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Law or a relevant field.
A valid solicitor license.
Minimum of [X] years of experience as a Property and Procurement Solicitor.
Extensive knowledge and experience in property law, including leases, acquisitions, and disposals.
Strong understanding of procurement law and processes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
