Pay Rate: £22.36 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 36 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2 months

City: Kensington, London

This role will ensure the department comply with data protection legislation. This will be delivered by providing day to day advice to colleagues, processing all FOIs and SARs, maintaining the IAR and other associated documents.

Key Receptibilities:

Continuously monitor the gaps between existing systems and processes and the latest
Data Protection legislation and best practice. Lead on the implementation of the solutions agreed to address any gaps, keeping the remediation plans under constant review.
Department lead developing systems, policies, procedures and general guidance on data management.
Support staff in reporting and management of Data Breaches, including containment and follow on improvement activity.
Develop, implement and maintain a Housing Management data governance framework, including risk-based systems of control, effective record keeping.
Co-ordinate and manage responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, Subject
Access requests (SAR) and any requests for personal information under the Data Protection Act/GDPR
Maintain an Information Asset Register, identifying asset owners, types of records kept, how the information is stored and the record keeping systems in use.
Maintain a Data Governance risk register with delivery of associated mitigation.
Work with the relevant service areas to deliver Data Protection Impact Assessments when initiating a project.
Provide comprehensive routine reports on Data Protection compliance, training and awareness as required.
Advise the department on changes in Data Protection legislation and regulatory requirements, and work with the Policy Officers to ensure the policies and procedures are regularly kept under review and updated to reflect changes.

Qualifications:

GCSE’s grade C/4 or above in Mathematics and English or equivalent qualification / experience.



Skills & Experience:

Significant knowledge of Data Protection legislation, including the EU General Data.
Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
Explaining complex updates in legislation to a broad range of stakeholders.
Experience working in a similar role within the public sector.
Experience managing data incidents and breaches.
Understanding of technical knowledge of current data management requirements.
Able to make sound judgements and manage risks linked to data privacy.
Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to provide advice to stakeholders at all levels.
Use updates from government or other bodies to bring forward suggestions and best practice to senior management.
Experience maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, tact and discretion
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
