Summary

Clerk to Governors - Windham Nursery School, Richmond Grade: NJC SO1 (Spine Point 25) Part time: 15-18 hrs per month - £16.81 an hour, including leave allowance The governors of Windham Nursery School wish to appoint a highly organised and self-motivated clerk to join this school from September 2024. The clerk is accountable to the governing board, working effectively with the chair of governors, the headteacher and other governors. The clerk to the governors will ensure the smooth running of the governing board; preparing and circulating agendas; collecting and distributing all relevant meeting documents; taking accurate and well-constructed minutes; giving administrative support; keeping records and up-to-date information on policies and date of reviews; coordinating the induction process of new governors; and providing procedural and legislative advice to the governing board. They must have excellent organisational, communication and ICT skills. The clerk should have an interest in education, be reliable, proactive, efficient and well organised. The role will require good listening and interpersonal skills. You should be professional, friendly and approachable and able to deal with confidential matters. This is a part time role, covering 6 full governing board meetings and 9 committee meetings per school year. Meetings are held in term time. Full governing board meetings are usually held in the evening (18:30-20:30), while committee meetings take place in the morning (9:00-12:00). The clerk is also expected to attend all relevant training events and clerk briefings. The clerk is paid for hours worked on a monthly or termly basis and receives an included amount for leave. Hours payable include the whole meeting process (emails, calls and agenda preparation; writing up and distributing minutes) and attending regular training events. The total estimated hours for the current year are approximately 138. Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided as required. Please note that, although the role does not start until September, the successful candidate should be available to meet with the current clerk to allow for a smooth handover.
