Youth Participation Coordinator

All Saints Youth Project is an established, community-based provision based in All Saints Centre. We deliver a range of support and activities for young people aged 11 to 19 years old (25 with additional needs) and their families since 1988. We have a strong commitment to developing an inclusive project open to all young people, regardless of ability or background, to support their transition from adolescence to adulthood. Together with the Family Support team, this enables us to deliver an integrated approach by addressing the needs of the family. We are looking for a committed, confident and passionate individual to join our diverse team at All Saints Youth Project in the heart of Kings Heath as a Youth Participation Coordinator.

The job is for an experienced Youth Participation Coordinator.

Hours – 25 per week (including evenings and possibly some weekends)

Pay - £27,125 pro rata

Interviews will be held on Thursday 16th May 2024

As part of your interview process, you will also be expected to attend a young peoples session (time to be confirmed) where you will need to engage a group of young people in developing a health education campaign around vaping. The views of the young people will be taken into account when making the final decision.

Job description

Reporting to: A nominated member of the Youth Management Committee

Responsible for: Designated sessional staff and volunteers

Budget responsibility: Funds allocated to specific initiatives and related programmes

Main Purpose and Scope of the Job:
1. Empower young people to play a vital role in their own development and that of All Saints Youth Project,
2. Develop, plan and deliver a programme of active participation, volunteering opportunities and informal education in consultation with young people across all areas of the project including drop-ins, inclusion groups, holiday schemes, residentials, family support and other targeted sessions.

Duties and responsibilities:
1. To have knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of safeguarding children and young people.
2. To have or be willing to complete Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
3. Work collaboratively with young people to realise new projects and create new opportunities that respond to young people’s needs
4. Enable and encourage young people to participate and take responsibility within the project including running activities, decision making and fundraising for specific items/projects
5. Work co-operatively with staff working in other parts of the All Saints Project to develop and deliver a holistic service for young people and their families
6. Contribute to the evaluation and review of All Saints Youth Project’s services. Evaluations will take place at the end of each session and at the end of holiday schemes.
7. Ensure that young people with disabilities, where possible, have access to all parts of the project and to break barriers to them taking part
8. Work within budgets and meet targets
9. Undertake monitoring, evaluation, consultation and reporting as appropriate
10. Develop accreditation routes for children and young people
11. Collaborate with staff and volunteers in all areas of youth work
12. Ensure that the goal of all our work is good outcomes for young people
13. Work within the policies and procedures of the organisation
14. Work within All Saints Statement of Values
15. Plan and deliver workshops for young volunteers, peer mentors and peer educators
16. Liaise with schools and other referral agencies
17. Secure and maintain resources working in partnership with Youth Work Coordinator
18. Provide reports to the management committee and funders
19. Support young people in exploring volunteering opportunities in the local community.
20. Assist with staff recruitment.
21. Undertake other roles that may be required for the delivery of the youth projects programme
