Summary

Our clients Scottish Power Energy Networks are currently recruiting for a Cad Operator to join their team based in Cambuslang. For this role they are ideally looking for Cad Operators with experience in Civils/Structural work preferably. Please see below for the Job Spec:

Job Purpose Statement
Develop and Deliver drawing office solutions to support SP Energy Networks engineering solutions for Transmission Network Projects (132kv and above). Provide necessary concept and detailed engineering models / drawings in chosen field of expertise. (Mechanical/Civil/Structural Engineering Drawing Production). Provide advice, innovation and effective technical support to other members of the project team to assist in the engineering solutions / designs throughout the Transmission Network project lifecycle.

Accountability Statements
• Responsible for preparation of both feasibility and detailed design models/ drawings, relating to the planning and construction of complex Transmission / Distribution projects
• Responsible for ensuring all team members to perform their duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and environment compliance and continuous improvement.
• Responsible for the completion of as-built drawing packages in a timeously manner (as allocated by Drawing Office Manager/ Senior Engineer).
• Responsible for the administration of allocated workload.
• Responsible for gathering relevant information to enable the production of accurate drawings.
• Responsible for communication and encouragement of the use of drawing standards and procedures.
• Work to and maintain externally audited QA systems.
• Contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of drawing office databases.
• Contribute to the maintenance an auditable design/design change system to facilitate the accreditation of BS EN ISO 19650.
• Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and environment compliance and continuous improvement.
• Responsible for assessment of basic and detailed engineering drawings prepared by other drawing office team members.
• Responsible for providing guidance and support to other drawing office team members in their area of expertise.
• Responsible for the timely delivery of the workload to the client, ensuring a high standard of client satisfaction.
• Contribute to the review and assessment of drawing documentation and process used with the Drawing Office (under guidance from Senior Engineer)
• Contribute to training needs assessment for new products or similar and the development and delivery of technical, operational and safety packages for such products.
• Liase across multi disciplinary engineering teams to provide end to end integrated solution

Dimensions
• Member of the SPT Projects Engineering which is responsible for delivering all detailed design engineering in the RIIO T2 business plan
• Responsible for the delivery of detailed design drawings on complex engineering projects where the project value of any single project could be in excess of £100M. There is no direct budget responsibility but the designs produced have a direct bearing on the outturn of the projects.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
· HND in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering or proven Engineering Experience within Substation Design Housewith relevant experience.
· Good inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.
· Understanding of engineering design / health & safety requirements and compliance.
· Knowledge of Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction Tools (inc. Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
· Working knowledge of Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction Tools / Vault / Project wise and MS Office suite.

Planning & Organising
• Transmission projects are the most complex, high value projects undertaken by SPEN and therefore the job holder must have excellent planning and organisational skills
• SPT have developed the capability to deliver complex projects using a disaggregated delivery model in which SPEN takes responsibility for project design and overall integration of the many components and tasks that make up the project. As SPEN is the leader in this approach in the UK power industry, the job holder must be capable of engaging in planning tasks from the highest strategic level in capital investment down to day by day co-ordination.
• There are many functions external to the job holder’s teams that need to be effectively co-ordinated to deliver the work programme successfully. The job holder must be able to engage with fellow senior managers around the Business and associated corporate functions to ensure that all of these functions are aligned.
• Responsible for delivery of the detailed design drawings on multiple projects where each project has numerous key outage dependent deliverables so planning of work is essential

Minimum Criteria:
· HND in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering or proven Engineering Experience within Substation Design House.
· Working knowledge in the use of Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction Tools (inc. Revit, BIM360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, Vault, Project wise and MS Office suite.
· Knowledge of engineering design / health & safety requirements and compliance in your chosen field (Electrical / Mechanical / Civil / Structural model / drawing production).
