JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
A personal assistant is required for a 10-year-old autistic non-verbal boy who lives in the Culverhouse Cross area of Cardiff. He is active and enjoys being outdoors as well as doing indoor activities.
PURPOSE OF JOB
The Service User is active and the parents need some support with helping him to socialise into the community and with general engaging activities to help with his communication and development.
PLACE OF WORK
Out and about in the community
HOURS OF WORK
Up to 12 hours a week ideally on a Saturday or a Sunday during term time, possibly one additional evening after school to be discussed as the week day is flexible to be agreed.
12 Hours during Term time as above
15 Hours during School Holiday to be discussed
Times and days for school holidays can be discussed and also Term Time can be flexible with days and hours.
RATE OF PAY
£12.60 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
Supervising the Service User at all times.
Ensuring that the Service User is safe at all times.
Transporting the Service User to places in the community.
Assisting the Service User to improve his confidence, physical skills and ability to deal with a variety of social situations.
Engaging in activities that will help him engage in communication and develop
Personal care will also be required.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Must have access to a vehicle and hold a full driving license. The use of your vehicle with be required for this role.
Must be reliable
Must be flexible
Must be patient
Experience in a similar role is desirable. Preferably assisting another non-verbal young person with challenging needs.
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
