Summary

Static Band 6 Physiotherapist in Critical Care

Hours:Full time, permanent but flexible working requests can be discussed

If you are passionate, motivated and enthusiastic about critical care and improving patient outcomes then we have a role for youto join our growing static critical care team. This post will cover a wide range of specialist areas, across two sites, enhancing your 4 pillars of clinical practice: Leadership, Research/audit, learning and clinical skills.

You will be joining an established supportive Critical Care Therapy team, rotating across two sites and will have the opportunity to develop skills in complex respiratory management including:
• Trache management
• Ventilation weaning; including NIV supportive treatment for extubation of patients and long term ventilation strategies
• Early rehab of Critical Care patients with a wide variety of patho-physiology in a number of specialities
• Rehab of patients who receive ECMO treatment

You will work closely with our ICU MDT driving innovation of therapy provision with the wider multi-disciplinary team. Your daily work will also involve supporting the transition of therapy care from Critical Care to the base wards.

You will be working alongside an established team of Physiotherapists to develop your clinical, leadership, teaching and service development skills whilst working within a supportive and motivated department. This includes an Advanced Practitioner with years of knowledge, drive and experience.

You will demonstrate effective communication, prioritisation and organisational skills within a large multidisciplinary team, whilst being responsible for managing a complex clinical caseload from assessment to discharge or transfer of care.

You will receive regular supervision and appraisal and will actively be involved in service development. There is good funding support for MSc level learning, lung ultrasound and training in tracheostomy decannulation and tube changes.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
