Summary

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Band 6 Midwife to join our traditional community midwifery team working within teams in Mansfield, Sherwood, Ashfield or Newark. The role includes a mixture of working hour patterns and nights on call to support the needs of the birthing people in our care.

Your role will be to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and evidence-based woman centred care which can be delivered in a variety of models.

To provide total midwifery care for both high and low risk women within the community setting, providing the necessary supervision, care and advice to women during their pregnancy journey.

To provide effective communication and liaison with other acute providers of maternity care, engaging with other partners and members of the wider multidisciplinary team as appropriate.

At Sherwood Forest Hospitals we have a vibrant and varied multidisciplinary team providing high quality maternity care to around 4500 women per year (with a birth rate around 3200). Our recent CQC visit, in May 2020, rated the Trust as ‘Good’ overall and ‘Outstanding’ for Care for maternity services.

We currently have opportunities for experienced Band 5/6 midwives to work in our traditional community midwifery service. The successful candidate will be offered a comprehensive induction programme, complemented by our generous annual in service training programme.

You will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary teams in an environment that is supportive and empowering. As a member of our team you will be professional, reliable, compassionate and safe with excellent communication skills and a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through evidence-based practice.

Thank you for your interest in this role.

Sherwood is nationally recognised as being an excellent place to work and deliver care. We are rightly proud of the 5,500 colleagues who work here, and we are the Health Service Journal’s Trust of the Year in 2020.

The Care Quality Commission rated King’s Mill Hospital Outstanding and Newark, and Mansfield Community Hospitals Good. Overall, we are rated Outstanding for care.

For the last three years, we have been ranked as the best NHS Trust to work for in the Midlands and in 2020 we were the third best Acute/Community NHS Trust in England.

Happy colleagues deliver better care. Our teams work in a supportive, inclusive environment, which nurtures wellbeing and has opportunities for development and progression. We do not just care for our patients; we also care for you.

Our culture of learning, compassion and taking a person-centred approach are at the roots of our organisation. We would love you to join us.
