Our client is a mixed veterinary practice located in a stunning village on the Scottish Borders, only 45 minutes from Edinburgh and an hour from Newcastle, with access to a wealth of amazing outdoor pursuits on your doorstep. They are looking for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon with a real enthusiasm for farm work who is looking to take on the challenge of leading a large animal team.

They are a mixed practice with approximately 70% small animal, 30% farm animals and a stand-alone regenerative medicine and rehabilitation unit which accepts referrals from all over the country. They have a purpose built facility for this service that includes a hydrotherapy underwater treadmill and qualified veterinary physiotherapists as part of the team.

You will be joining a wonderful team of 10 vets who are enthusiastic and dedicated to the practice. The team is also supported by a large RVN, PCA and front of house team. The team all enjoy their working days together and are very supportive of each other. They have team members with lots of different interests and fully support ongoing study.

Our client is looking for a vet with a real enthusiasm for farm work who is looking to take on the challenge of leading a large animal team. The role includes line-managing the 5 large animal vets and supporting the Clinical Director to ensure the farm side of the business continues to thrive. They have a loyal client base of mainly spring-calving beef and sheep clients with one dairy (fortnightly routine).

The main site is well equipped with all the usual gadgets including DR x-ray, ultrasound, full in-house laboratory suite and endoscopy. They also have dedicated Large Animal facilities for small ruminant ops and hospitalisation.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, friendly farm-only or mixed veterinary surgeon with good communication skills.

This is a rare opportunity for a permanent vet to join a super friendly, family feel practice where they pride themselves on providing a good work: life balance along with lots of on-the-job support for colleagues.
