Summary


Barts Health NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for a passionate community band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our SLT team, based at Whipps Cross Hospital and Waltham Forest Borough in a full-time permanent role.

The successful post holder will lead on developing and managing a service worthy of our diverse patients with swallowing and communication difficulties in a community. The post holder will manage a flexible service based in clinic and patient homes, face-to-face and virtually of complex neuro and general cases.

You will be provided with steady and empowering support through clinical supervision, line management and CPD opportunities.

You will need advanced dysphagia competencies, excellent communication skills and experience of working with adults with acquired conditions.



The post holder will be a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist working within the borough of Waltham Forest with a varied and complex caseload of adults with acquired conditions.

The post holder will be based within acute SLT team office at Whipps Cross Hospital and will work out in the Waltham Forest Community across a range of settings including virtually, in the patient’s own home, nursing homes and any other appropriate community settings. The post holder will provide specialist assessment and treatment to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the acute inpatient SLT team at Whipps Cross Hospital, as well as wider multi-disciplinary teams across Barts Health NHS Trust to facilitate a safe and quality service within the community.

The post holder may be required to supervise band 6 SLT’s and band 3 staff if appropriate and to support student speech and language therapists on their placements. The post holder will access support and supervision from the Clinical Lead SLT.
