Summary


We have an exciting opportunity to work as a clinical support worker in Adult ED.

As a Clinical support worker at Queen’s Medical Centre (working in adults), you can make all the difference. You’ll be part of a team that makes sure patients and their relatives are reassured and the medical staff who treat them have the support and resources they need to do the best possible job. It’s a big responsibility, and it’s as rewarding as it is challenging in one of the biggest Emergency departments in Europe.

You will work as part of the wider nursing and medical team in our Majors and Urgent Treatment Units, as well as contribute to the early assessment of patients, their ongoing care, delivery of treatments and assist in their onwards travel from the Department.

Please note this role is full internal rotation made up of long shifts 7-1930 or 1900-0730 covering 7 days a week, this will include nights, weekends and public holidays.

Even if choosing to not work full time you will need to complete a 6 week induction programme at full time hours on starting the post.

We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals, who are willing to expand their knowledge and learn new skills. You should be able to demonstrate sensitivity and compassion towards patients and have the ability to work to a high standard as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Following appropriate training and with the indirect supervision of a registered nurse, participate in undertaking clinical tasks at the request of the ED Team. Primarily you will be expected to undertake cannulation, venepuncture, observations and ECG recording, wound care/ wound closure, slings and splints.

You will need to be able to commit to 6 weeks of full time training when you start the post to ensure you do all of the mandatory training for the post.
