Summary


This is an opportunity for a Band 7 Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner to develop their skills in Tyneside Integrated Musculoskeletal Service (TIMS) working in clinical settings across Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team to provide a comprehensive service within our musculoskeletal pathways. They will maintain a specialist caseload and act as a source of expertise within the team and be expected to contribute to service evaluation, treatment and research within the service.

Depending on the experience of the successful candidate there is also an opportunity to further develop skills in a First Contact practice role working into GP practices in Newcastle.

You will be required to have a degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy, State registered with Health and Care Professions Council and hold or be willing to work towards Masters level qualification. You will have extensive post graduate experience in the area with experience of integrating evidence based guidelines into clinical practice. Also, evidence of ongoing accredited CPD in a specialist area including relevant post graduate courses.

• Provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to a highly complex patient group referred to TIMS.
• Take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality with musculo-skeletal conditions referred to TIMS who may have complex physical, psychological and chronic presentations.
• Triage referrals and make onward referrals to other healthcare professionals some of which may be urgent, and to determine clinical diagnosis, develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
• Carry a clinical caseload of complex patients within the speciality using skills to aid diagnosis and development of treatment plans e.g. ordering x-rays, administering injection therapy.
• Liaise with MDT colleagues, specifically GP’s and consultants with regard to the delivery and evaluation of the TIMS service.
• Provide day to day clinical leadership to Band 6 and 5 Physiotherapists within the clinical pathway through supervision, assessment, education and support.
