Summary


An exciting opportunity to join the Oxleas Adult Autism Service as we seek to appoint a Speech & Language Therapist to be part of our multidisciplinary team working with adults with autism spectrum disorder without learning disabilities. The service provides clinical specialist support to the community mental health teams, acute care/psychiatric wards and other local teams working with Autistic people with comorbid psychiatric disorders in order to adjust the inpatient and community support and care according to their specific needs.

The post holder will offer SLTs specialist assessments and support to a wide range of service users with Autism and comorbid psychiatric disorders in partnership with other autism specialists part of our MDT.

The role enables close liaison with social care, community mental health teams, acute care teams and other professional colleagues in partner agencies through consultation, attendance to multi-professional meetings and contributing to training. The post offers great potential for the candidate to pursue specialist interests and develop highly specialist skills in discipline specific assessments and support of autistic adults.

To provide clinically effective, person centred, evidence based Speech & Language Therapy assessment and intervention under supervision to:-
• Adults with autism at risk of acute care admission as part of the Learning Disability & Autism Transformation Program.
• Adults referred to the Oxleas Adult Autism Service as needed.
• To provide Speech & Language Therapy input to clients admitted or at risk of admission to the service.
• To provide Speech & Language Therapy support to and work alongside CMHTs and psychiatric wards working with the above cohort of service users in the community and in acute care settings.
• To work under the supervision of the team SaLT Lead.
• To practice within the multidisciplinary team and in close partnership with OTs and Psychologists, ensuring the highest possible standards of practice.
