Summary
Job title: Personal Care Assistant (PCA)
A Personal Care Assistant is needed to support an elderly lady who has dementia with a variety of tasks to enable her to live an independent personal and social life, encourage wellbeing, and maintain a safe and comfortable surrounding.
Main Duties:
Daily personal care to include washing, shower and dressing.
Administering medication.
Meal planning, preparation, and minor supervision with eating.
General domiciliary duties
Support to access social activities and occasional outings.
Providing companionship and mental and intellectual stimulation.
These duties may vary from day to day and may include any other reasonable duties that may be necessary.
Hours of work: 12 - 16 hours Sunday to Saturday. Times to be agreed by the employer (flexibility is required).
Rate of Pay:
£11.50 - £12.14
Mileage: 45p per mile if using own vehicle during work hours to take client out.
Qualifications and Experience:
A level 3 Health and Social Care qualification to include training in dementia care.
Previous experience of working in care and particularly with dementia clients.
Ability to deal with challenging situations and fluctuating behaviours.
Excellent communicator or high level of fluency.
Interest in the arts and culture, eg. film, theatre, classical music, reading, gardening; good conversationalist.
