Summary


If you are a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, then we want you! This role is crucial to providing and maintaining an efficient and effective admin service for patients and their families.

The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive administrative service to the medical staff in the department of paediatric neurology.

Children's services is a very busy and dynamic place of work, providing care for children with a variety of health care needs. Specialties include neurosurgery, neurology, trauma, oncology, BMT and plastic surgery, as well as paediatric surgery, paediatric infectious diseases and paediatric medicine. It is also a tertiary referral centre accepting admissions from throughout the North East and further afield to support the increasing demand for Paediatric Critical Care.

If successful, you will be responsible for liaising with clinical and non-clinical professional staff for the delivery of a high standard of care. Your role will directly impact patient experience and be part of providing seamless delivery of care.
• Proof reading of clinical reports, letters and discharge summaries
• Updating spreadsheets/data collection
• Dealing with enquiries from patients, relatives and staff
• Scanning and photocopying
• Booking appointments
• Team working

You should be self-motivated, reliable and well organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be able to demonstrate administrative experience with appropriate qualifications, be able to work efficiently and methodically with good attention to detail without direct supervision. The post holder should be flexible to the needs of the service with a positive and proactive attitude.

The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills, be able to prioritise workload effectively with excellent attention to detail.

• Working within a team of administrative staff supporting the provision of an efficient secretarial support service to Consultants, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff within their team, i.e. Specialist Nurses
• Audio typing of letters and documents
• Deal with telephone enquires promptly.
• Communicate with patients regarding appointments and admissions at the request of medical staff
• Cover admin posts Trust wide as required.
