Temporary Contact Officer/Admin – Children & Family Service.

Pay Rate: £11.98 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5pm

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months

City: Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire

Candidates will be required to work at various children's centres.

Candidates must be able to work flexible hours including evening and weekends between 8.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m.

Enhanced DBS required for this role

The purpose of the role is to provide an efficient and effective service to designated teams within Children and Family Service. To adopt a flexible and adaptable approach across whole service as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Making arrangements with relevant professionals and agencies to prepare for children and their families to have contact, including transporting, when necessary, of children and their families to and from the Contact Sessions. As required, to be responsible for opening and securing of the building.
Observe and supervise the interactions between families and children attending contact. Ensuring that the contact room and activities are age appropriate and any rooms are left tidy. To provide support, advice, guidance and safeguard the welfare of children and young people and provide regular feedback to families and carers. As necessary identify and schedule support for families within contact sessions.
Develop positive and professional relationships with children and their families/carers and professionals.
Contribute to assessments by providing written and verbal reports in relation to the observations observed, ensuring that all relevant information has been passed on to the child’s social worker and other relevant professionals.
If required to attend court to provide verbal evidence.
Access, input and retrieve information using Corporate and Departmental systems. Ensuring that all reports and recordings are stored accurately upon the electronic database, and liaised with relevant professionals.
Attend meetings in relation to the service, children and families as appropriate.
Undertake duties as required which support the vision of the organisation, including developing and awareness of the services within the contact service.
As required, to be responsible for cash handling and recording system associated with this task.
As required to be responsible for opening and securing buildings
Ensure safety and wellbeing of families through the implementation of robust safeguarding practices and procedures
Attend court when necessary
Maintain Security and confidentiality of all information collected and stored.
Support with admirative tasks as required.

Qualifications:

3 GCSE's, Grades A-C, or equivalent including English and Mathematics.
A minimum NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience of working with children and families.



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Evidence of sound basic education and the ability to record information accurately and appropriately.
Experience of direct work with children, their families, and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency which provides services to vulnerable children and their families.
Ability to fully meet the requirements of the post and cover the geographic area required, either by possession of a valid driver’s licence or access to public or other transport in line with the regulations of the Disability Discrimination Act.
Able to develop appropriate relationships with children and their families.
Knowledge and understanding of child development.
Ability to work effectively in situations where there maybe conflict.
Ability to work as a team as well as been able to work upon own initiative.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
