Who are we? We are a Dietetic Department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire based just under 10 minutes from the M69/M6 interchange. We are diverse in both skill and experience but also in personnel.

Who are you? We are looking for an experienced Band 7 Senior Specialist Dietitian working part-time for 12 months to cover maternity leave within our Oncology Dietetic Team at UHCW NHS Trust. Working alongside the Oncology Operational Lead you will provide both clinical and leadership support to the wider Oncology Team which is made up of a number of Dietitians and Dietetic Assistant Practitioners who cover the oncology, haematology & surgical wards, Arden Cancer Centre and Outpatients clinics at at UHCW NHS Trust.

Your post will also involve working as a Lead Dietitian for the Head and Neck Cancer service and holding a clinical caseload. This will involve working closely with the MDT which consists of oncologists, surgeons, speech and language therapists, specialist nurses and the wider teams providing both surgical and oncological treatment options.

What can we offer? As a large teaching hospital we cover a range of specialities including stroke, elderly care, cardiology, respiratory, endocrinology, as well as being a major trauma centre. Additionally you will work alongside your colleagues in gastroenterology, critical care, medicine, renal and paediatrics.

Our Oncology Team provides input alongside our Multi Disciplinary Teams to patients who have had a diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal, head and neck, hepatobiliary, haematological and other cancers.

Main Surties:
• To provide specialist dietetic advice on the dietary / nutritional management for Head & Neck cancer patients undergoing surgery, radical oncological treatments and palliative care.
• To manage a highly specialised caseload of patients or clients or projects or training within Oncology Dietetic service.
• Act as an specialist adviser and educator to other health care professionals and other Dietitians in respect of nutrition support.
• To act as line manager for band 6 Head & Neck Cancer Dietitians and Dietetic Associate Practitioners.

Management
1. To provide line management support to junior staff within the Oncology Dietitian Team
2. To participate in forward planning and development of the dietetic department with particular reference to cancer care & rehabilitation
3. To lead and contribute to the development and updating of evidence based clinical guidelines, policies, procedures and patient information with particularly for those required for use in the delivery of the Oncology Dietetic Team Service for cancer patients
4. To propose changes to own working practices and practices relating to nutrition in cancer care across the Dietetic Service based on current evidence and best practice
5. To monitor stock levels of resources such as stationery, diet sheets, patient information, health promotion leaflets, enteral feeding equipment and ensure cost effective and appropriate use within the Oncology Dietetic Team
6. To plan and prioritise own workload and evaluate own practice which may include clinics, group work, working jointly with other professionals and agencies.
