Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated Band 5 nurse or operating department practitioner to join the Operating Department at University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street. The hospital is located in one of the most attractive areas of the West End, close to Oxford Street and the popular area of Marylebone.

This is an exciting role, which will provide experience and skills development in anaesthetic practice in Urology, Thoracics and Robotic surgery, with the support of a dedicated Senior Clinical Practice Facilitator. UCLH is committed to ongoing professional development; staff can undertake further professional development via a wide range of in-house and university-based training programmes.

The successful candidate will hold the appropriate qualifications to be a current registered practitioner: either as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with Anaesthetic Qualification, or as an ODP. They will also demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development. Applications are welcomed from newly qualified practitioners.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a desire to work as part of a team, and to develop skills in new and innovative procedures. They will be competent in basic IT applications.

UCLH is a major teaching hospital and research centre, with state-of-the-art facilities across our sites. In a recent survey of UCLH staff, 74% of respondents said they would recommend ULCH as a place to work, the top score among acute trusts in London. 86% of staff said they would be happy for a friend or relative to be treated here.

Our busy and dynamic operating theatres set the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have a total of 34 operating rooms across our sites. We also provide anaesthesia support in areas such as endoscopy, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, brachytherapy and interventional radiology.

Staff benefits include: an interest-free travel season ticket loan; subsidised social club; gym discounts; free staff library; retail discounts; car leasing scheme and on-site accommodation. Our Be Well programme includes a range of wellbeing initiatives to support staff. As a sustainable employer, UCLH is aiming to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2031. We recognise, reward and thank colleagues by nominating them for our annual Celebrating Excellence Awards, funded by UCLH Charity.
