Summary


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered midwife who has an interest/passion for clinical education and teaching. The successful candidate will work 37.5 hrs a week as a band 6 Practice Educator Facilitator.

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic midwife who has a keen interest in the education of midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team who will work as part of the Practice Development Team in Maternity.

The successful candidate will also work clinically alongside midwives to support in the learning, supervision and assessment of new skills and extended scopes of practise, in particular with the newly qualified midwife.

Key skills and qualities required include being organised, diplomatic, approachable, and autonomous, be able to maintain confidentiality and be a good team player. A passion for teaching on both group and individual basis, and the ability to use flexible teaching strategies is imperative to this post to ensure all learning styles can be met.
• Be responsible for ensuring NMC Standards for education are embedded within the organisation to support learning, assessing and supervising in practice
• Continue the development of the concept of nurturing and retaining future practitioners
• Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills including engagement and negotiation
• The post holder will ensure that they follow the trust’s hospital Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures to protect patients, staff and visitors from healthcare associated infections.
• Be accountable for own practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and trust policies, recognising own limitations within professional boundaries.
• From a clinical, educational and professional perspective, guide and direct midwifery staff to ensure each individuals full potential is reached
• Provide clinical skills, educational support and direction to new members of staff to enable the on-going delivery of high quality care to the women and their babies
• You will also support existing members of the midwifery team to refresh their skills
• Through working with new staff directly link theory to practice within the clinical setting, and ensure accurate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of midwifery care
