Summary


The Health Care Assistant (HCA) works as part of the nursing team based at the SHAW clinic to provide care within the sexual health service (Genito-urinary medicine, contraception and HIV care), working under the supervision and guidance of the Clinic Sister and Registered Nurses.

The role involves supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care, clerical duties and overseeing of the maintenance of a therapeutic environment.

The HCA is a member of the wider multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will be expected to work across sites as needed by the service, this could include the Amersham Hospital Clinic or Brookside Centre in Aylesbury.

To participate in health promotion in the clinic and the wider community environment.

To chaperone in the assessment of individual patient needs, under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

To undertake clinical interventions, unsupervised, as delegated by a senior team member, including venepuncture, microscopy, blood pressure, temperature and pulse.

To work in co-operation with all other professionals and agencies involved in the care of the patient.

Liaise and co-operate effectively with the administrative and reception staff in order to maintain an effective patient pathway.

Be responsible for stock control and ordering stores, equipment and monitoring faults and report to the appropriate staff member.
