Summary


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as an Echocardiography Assistant within the Cardiology Department at Wycombe Hospital

You will join our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, cardiac physiologists, nurses and admin staff who are dedicated to providing a high quality, cardiac diagnostic imaging service

You'll need a caring nature and the ability to see each patient as an individual and carry out this role with empathy and understanding.

The successful candidate will be required to carry out a variety of duties to assist the medical staff during procedures as required.

It is essential to have a good level of general education and a basic understanding of IT. Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are also an essential requirement of this post.

Previous healthcare experience is desirable, but not essential, and we will provide the support and training necessary to carry out your duties.

This is a full-time position - Monday -Friday 9-5.

Clinical tasks:
• Maintain excellent hygiene within the clinical area, using the appropriate methods to ensure equipment is cleaned
• Gain a good understanding of the different clinical procedures that are performed in the department
• Measure the height, weight and blood pressure of patients attending for scans
• Assist with ultrasound lists by preparing the room with appropriate equipment, and ensuring patients are dressed appropriately
• Stock and replenish rooms on a daily basis
• Maintain the departmental resuscitation trolley
• Escort/chaperone patients during procedures
• General help and assistance to the medical team


General tasks:
• Work autonomously as part of the imaging team, have a flexible approach to daily tasks and providing help where needed
• Participate in patient surveys and department audits on a regular basis
• Undertake mandatory training as required by the Trust
• Act as the point of contact for the department, greet patients on arrival and process imaging referrals appropriately
• Effectively use hospital software
• Process all electronic orders received via Evolve
• Organise imaging lists in ultrasound
• Communicate effectively with patients and relatives
• Maintain health and safety in the department
