Summary


We are looking for an experienced Endoscopy nurse to join our friendly and highly skilled team at Colchester Hospital as a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. You will be assessing, caring for and recovering patients undergoing endoscopy. You will be assisting clinicians and specialist nurses with all endoscopic procedures diagnostic and therapeutic.

The Colchester Endoscopy Department provide patient centered care for patients undergoing GI Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy. We undertake a range of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and Bowel Screening. In this post you will also be involved in the in-service training and will have the opportunity to enhance your own training and development.

We will help you to learn and develop your current skills to the highest standards, enabling you to enhance your expertise in delivering a range of Endoscopic therapeutic interventions.

We are a very busy unit providing care from 0700 to 1900 Monday to Sunday and also an out of hours on call service which you will be expected to participate in.

In this role you will deputise and support the Endoscopy Manager in the day to day running of the department and in creating a skilled Endoscopy workforce. You will monitor standards of nursing care and take appropriate action to maintain and improve the Endoscopy patient experience.

You will work closely with Endoscopists and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, patient centred care. As a coordinator you will ensure a safe skill mix during a shift and manage staff to deliver an effective working day.

As an expert endoscopy nurse, you will lead in the procedure room in delivering a wide range of advanced therapeutic endoscopic intervention including management of a GI Bleeds.

You will manage local complaints or PALS complaints as they occur and take action to resolve before escalation to the Endoscopy Manager, take part in local and trust wide audits, and take the lead in training and development of staff and appraisals.
