Diversity is as crucial to design as it is to Winchester’s ambition to be the UK’s leading art school. Part of the University of Southampton, a founder member of the prestigious, research-led Russell Group of universities, we’re currently restructuring to quicken the pace of change. So, it’s an exciting time to join us. Not only are we setting our sights high, we’re broadening our horizons too. This will make us the inclusive institution, employer, and educator we must be as we continue to evolve.

We are currently seeking to recruit an entry level graphic designer in our in-house design studio at Winchester School of Art. The Studio has become an essential resource and part of the narrative of the School in the production our marketing and designed material from prospectus to exhibition identities. In addition, we want the Studio to contribute to a more research driven approach and to produce designed output at the request of the school via its Research Hubs, Creative Labs and other related research related groups. You will need to evidence a good understanding of layout, typography, print and digital production techniques. The Studio will offer industry related experience to undergraduate students at the school through a mix of internal and external client-facing projects. You will have excellent communication and team working skills and have the capacity to support a variety of design related projects for the school as well as for external clients as required. A portfolio of relevant design outcomes, layout and typography experience and an understanding of print and digital production techniques would be desirable along with experience in social-media content development.

You will join a small but highly motivated team with the opportunities of significant support for personal development.

The post will be for a fixed term period of 12 months. This post is intended to give you valuable experience, develop your personal skills in a Design environment, provide guidance and mentoring prior to commencing your career in Marketing or a related area elsewhere and/or to help enhance your CV. Unfortunately, this is not a training contract and there is not a prospect of a permanent contract at the end of the Internship.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Jodie Silsby email: J.Silsby@soton.ac.uk
