Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, proactive and hardworking Pharmacy Technician to develop their skills as a Team Leader/ Senior Technician in our Replenishment Areas. We have restructured the role to focus more on our replenishment service.

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of the work through the replenishment areas to ensure accurate and timely supply services to internal & external customers including patients, ward staff, clinic staff and medical staff, which meets professional and legal requirements.

To act as a line manager for allocated staff ensuring that all aspects of performance, attendance, training and appraisal

Ensure effective stock control of drugs, minimise stock value and prevent accumulation of expired stock, whilst maintaining acceptable levels of availability.

To be responsible for the co-ordination and effectiveness of the replenishment services provided by the pharmacy department to all sites within the Trust, matching staff numbers with workflow.

To be responsible for the organisation of staffing levels in all areas of responsibility, including preparing and co-ordinating the staff rotas within those areas of responsibility, liaising with other team leaders as appropriate, and managing annual leave.

Ensure a smooth flow of work through replenishment areas through continuous performance, monitoring and evaluation.

To liaise with lead pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians to ensure an efficient replenishment service is maintained by continuously monitoring and updating ward stock lists.

Ensure the replenishment service is maintained by completing accompanied ward visits and assessments regularly

To ensure that all stock errors are documented in line with departmental procedures

To take overall responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the pharmacy robot including:

Investigate and respond to verbal complaints about the replenishment service, escalating these to a Senior Manager where appropriate.

• To support the training and education team by overseeing the delivery of the induction, training and assessment of all staff in the replenishment areas.
• To ensure that all staff are trained in the use of the computer system and liase with the pharmacy system manager as necessary.
• To act as a line manager and role model for allocated staff and identify training and development needs of those staff through annual appraisal accompanied by personal development plan.
• To be responsible for the performance management and sickness absence management of allocated staff.
• Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff working within the areas of responsibility
• To ensure that the Pharmacy service complies with Trust policies relating to health and safety including COSHH assessments, waste disposal, risk assessments, manual handling, and mandatory training.
• To manage the co-ordination of bonding hazard/drug recalls in accordance with the UHL Hazard Recall Procedure, ensuring they are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner.
• To be responsible for the development, preparation, updating and implementation of relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and working practices across UHL in conjunction with other site team leaders.
• To maintain dispensing and checking skills and to undertake dispensing in a UHL pharmacy department on a regular basis. To participate at a practical level in the full range of duties required of a Registered Pharmacy Technician, including prescription checking, patient counselling, cytotoxic dispensing, clinical trials dispensing, and controlled drug dispensing.
• To participate in late duty, weekend and bank holiday work in accordance with departmental rotas.
