Interview: Expected interview date w/c 3rd June 2024The School Northcott is a Specialist School for up to 200 pupils with a new designation of aged 3-19, whose primary learning difficulty is Autism and SLCN. Northcott is an established provision for pupils with additional needs including Autism, SLCN, MLD and SpLD. The PositionWe are currently expanding and we are excited to welcome applicants from external candidates to join our successful teamWe require a committed and innovative person with a passion to work with pupils with SEN, particularly pupils with autism. The successful applicant will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to build excellent relationships with pupils. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of community and will actively engage in all aspects of the wider school life. We require an experienced teaching assistant with a proven track record of working with pupils with additional needs in either a mainstream or specialist environment. Please ensure all essential criteria are met before submitting an application.Principle Accountabilities:Provides skilled support to pupils with S.E.N. including learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support pupils in order to guide and assist each child’s language, numeracy, other curriculum area development Assists with the development and implementation of Individual Provision Maps / Behaviour Management Plans, and Personal Support programmes Establishes constructive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations Promotes the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom Support pupils consistently, including behavioural, social and welfare matters, whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance Provide feedback to pupils, teachers and parents in relation to progress and achievement.
